Imaging

Our medical imaging department offers a full range of high quality diagnostic and therapeutic imaging modalities.  Our technologists are registered through TDH, ARRT and ARDMS. All reports are faxed to ordering physicians the same day they are transcribed. Courier service is also available.

Physicians may send orders for patients to our imaging department via fax at (409) 962-3080.

Digital X-ray and Flouroscopy

Advantages of Digital Radiology
Digital radiology provides many significant advantages, both for diagnostic and surgical procedures. Images can be viewed immediately, eliminating repeat procedures due to technologist error. In compliance with HIPAA privacy standards, your ordering physician can quickly obtain the results of your procedure over the internet, without waiting to receive a transcribed report. Common procedures performed include:
Carotid procedures allow physicians to perform arteriograms on the carotid arteries to look for blockage.
Myelogram procedures allow physicians to image the spinal cord and nerve roots to treat back or neck complaints.
Peripheral procedures allow physicians to perform arteriograms on the femoral popliteal arteries to look for blockage.
Renal procedures allow physicians to image the renal arteries to look for causes of high blood pressure, including blockage or stenosis.
Upper GI Esophagrams allow physicians to image the stomach and small bowel to assess for disease.

Our radiography and fluoroscopy equipment is fully digital allowing for excellent image quality, high reliability and quick reporting time.  While standard X-rays provide static images, fluoroscopy allows physicians to see real-time, moving X-ray images on a screen monitor to assist with a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.  For pain management in surgery, we use 9-inch eye C-arm systems which offer quick scan time and reduced radiation exposure for patients.

Mammography

We employ film-screen mammography and perform needle localization, which provides an ideal combination of image quality and patient comfort for screening, diagnosis and biopsy.  Our mammography technologists are accredited with ACR, FDA and TDH.

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine uses small amounts of radioactive materials to diagnose and treat disease.  These “radiopharmaceuticals” are detected by a special camera that works with computers to provide very precise pictures about the area of the body being imaged or treated.  The procedure offers information that would otherwise be unavailable or require surgery and often identifies abnormalities very early in the disease process, long before they might be apparent with other tests.  The amount of radiation used in the procedure is kept within safe limits, comparable with that received during an X-ray.

The equipment we use for nuclear studies is an ECAM, which offers early detection and staging of cancer and heart disease. The ECAM features dual digital detectors that deliver superior image quality.
